Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist - CITRMS® XV
Applicants are encouraged to review the ICFE's CITRMS®XV
Code of Ethics
Transitioning from the CITRMS® designation to the ICFE's all new CITRMS® XV.
The ICFE announced it has completely replaced the contents of the Independent
Study Guide (ISG) for its Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist -
CITRMS® certification program. It is now known as
Certified Identity Theft Risk
Management Specialist - CITRMS® XV. It was written by Yan Ross, who also has
served as the ICFE's Director of Special Projects since 2008 and before that he
practiced financial institutions law for over 25 years.
The ICFE's Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist
CITRMS ® XV Independent Study Guide (ISG) and CITRMS® XV
Examination are new and improved documents. The ISG XV provides a new
overview, current information on specific technological and demographic
developments, and a new perspective on the original credential.
Many changes and new challenges have occurred in the world of
identity theft since the original CITRMS® study program was first introduced
in 2006 by the ICFE. Consequently, CITRMS® XV undertakes a completely
new approach to recognizing and dealing with these developments, with
particular emphasis on two groups of specialized concerns: divided into
technology and demographic/activity categories.
Due to the proliferation of data breaches, requirements for
organizations that have suffered such breaches have expanded as well,
notably the requirement to make prompt notification to all individuals who
may be at risk of identity theft due to the compromise of the security of their
personally sensitive information.
In the past eight years, over seven thousand professionals have
successfully completed the CITRMS® program and have been ICFE certified.
Effective on the date the CITRMS® XV is published, CITRMS®
certificants and CITRMS enrollees will have one year to complete the
CITRMS® XV course in order to keep their listing in the ICFE's International
Directory of Certificants.
