ICFE Introduces New Certification
Certified Young Adult Financial Specialist (CYAFS™)

San Diego, CA - The Institute of Consumer Financial Education (ICFE) has introduced for April 2014 a new certification course titled: Certified Young Adult Financial Specialist ("CYAFS"). It has been submitted to the CFP Board for 10 hours of continuing education credit as well as the AFCPE and a variety of other professional organizations.

The ICFE's new CYAFS program is about teaching professionals to educate young adults. Young adults are more in need of financial education than ever before. There are more financial products and decisions to be made for their lives today and to plan for their future. The new Certified Young Adult Financial Specialist program educates trains and equips financial counselors to communicate their expertise in a way that young adults are able and willing to accept it.

The course objectives are:

Young Adult Financial Specialist certification course participants learn about their audience and the social and economic forces that are influencing their behavior. They will learn to guide young adults to become educated financial consumers who can think through their options intelligently. From building credit to buying a house to saving for the future, this course covers the gamut that young adults need to understand to live productive financial lives.

CYAFS course was written by the principals of Get It Together for ICFE. Get It Together is an Independent Financial Education company. ICFE has certified over six thousand professionals in seven different specialty certification programs. These professionals are employed by a wide range of organizations including consumer credit and debt counseling organizations, credit unions and other financial institutions, student loan lenders, cooperative extension system, all branches of the military, mortgage, real estate, and financial services firms; law enforcement, and other government agencies. Many others are private practitioners including notary public, attorneys, CPAs, CFPs, privacy professionals, fraud investigators and consumer educators.
